We will publish fees for the 2025/26 academic year in spring 2025 and you will be charged the applicable amount.

  • Will I be able to take out a larger student loan to cover the change in fees?

The Student Loans Company has updated the amount that you can borrow to a maximum of £9,250 for applicable students following the recent decision by the Welsh Government to increase the cap. If you have applied to borrow the full amount to cover your fee, that amount will be automatically increased to £9,250. Only students who have actively chosen to apply for a lower amount than the maximum will not have the amount they are borrowing automatically increased. You can find out more about how much you can borrow here.

  • How will this extra money be used?

Aberystwyth University is a registered charity. All the income generated by the institution is invested back into it. A proportion is invested annually in activities which are targeted at widening access to university, improving support for our students and improving the student experience.  The extra revenue raised by the Welsh Government decision to increase the tuition fee cap will be treated in the same way. You can read more about how your fees are invested into the University here.
